I am standing on the war fought wall of the Kingdom, blood and dead bodies are splattered everywhere in my vicinity. As I forced my eyes high up in the sky, that sensation, which shook the depth of my soul when an enormous Dragon spits fire at me.
When the Fire Dragon was above me, breathing fire, I shrieked. Jhunjhuni (chill) ran through my body in that mind-blowing experience.
I forgot I am in the event, wearing HTC Vive and playing the Virtual Reality demo created by event planners.
That feeling was completely different, my heart was beating faster than usual. And this brain of mine was shouting, Yes, this is it. This is what I dreamed while reading Ready Player One or watching Log Horizon Anime.
THIS IS FUTURE, and it is here already.
Though, we are long away from the actual immersive experience as per CES 2018.
But we are progressing with more powerful hardware’s, sensors, advance haptic devices.
What I saw is a tip of the iceberg. The world is going to revolutionize again, like when the computer invented, and Virtual Reality will be x10 revolutionary.
This is the turning point.
The turning point, where, whatever we dream, can become reality (in a VR world).
I am so excited just by imagining, as we wear our Virtual Reality device, lay on the bed, and full-dive into the virtual world.
Some of you reader’s must have heard/played “Second Life”, an online virtual world. Its motive was creating a virtual world where we can live a second life. But, absence of VR devices at that time has slowed this project’s success.
But hey, we are not far away from it now. One of the most ambiguous project – Hypatia – being developed by TimeFireVR.
Hypatia is a bustling virtual city where we can live, build, play, work and love.
Virtual Reality 2018
Because of high production cost Virtual reality was not mainstream and were for tech enthusiasts. 2018 will be a game changer.
Tech giants are trying to solve some of the major issues of VR.
Need of high-end PC, cables & wires, fixed tracking sensors are limiting the actual meaning of being virtual.
Facebook has revealed a stand-alone virtual reality headset, Oculus Go, won’t require plugging in a smartphone or a cable connected to computer like Oculus Rift or HTC’s Vive do.
“This all-in-one device makes VR more accessible than ever and represents a huge leap forward in comfort, visual clarity, and ease-of-use” commented Oculus Team in their blog.
Google’s standalone Daydream promise us to give high quality VR anywhere you want with no cables, phone or PC. Lenovo’s Mirage Solo, which showed up at CES 2018 is having WorldSense and 6 DOF (degree of freedom), which will give more reality of being virtual.
Both Oculus Go and Google’s Daydream will hit the market in the second half of this year. Though, no exact date has been announced.
Now we have the technology, even though it is in infant stage, to create an immersive world. Tech Enthusiasts are completely obsessed for creating something out of this.
We are not that much far now.
The dream is around the corner. Dreamers are dreaming for VR while Do’ers are giving their everything to make this dream a reality.
So what are you? A Dreamer or a Do’er?
